Scope and Content Note
The series consists of an unsigned manuscript journal book (with entries in ink and pencil) entitled "Register Containing the Names of Trustees, Instructors, Indian Children, Visitors and Contributors." The volume was apparently kept as a regular tool of school administration, and as such is a record of the school's operating capacity and visitor activity.
The series contains the following information: list of trustees of the asylum, 1855 (pp. 6-7), giving name and address, date of election, and brief remarks on position held; list of children admitted to the asylum, 1856-1881 (pp. 16-67, 102-113), giving child's name, Indian nation, reservation, age, whether father or mother are living, dates removed or died, and remarks (usually concerning date of discharge, death, removal, or return); register of visitors to the asylum, 1857-1865 (pp.70-100), giving name, address, and date of visit; and average number of children in the asylum per year, 1856-186[2?] (pp. 376-377), broken down in quarterly ranges of months within the year.
