Scope and Content Note
This series consists of color photographic slides and 4x5" black and white photographs created to supplement the department's tourism promotional programs. Most depict outdoor landscapes, scenic areas, cultural activities, historic sites, land and water recreation, sports, industrial tours, fairs, expositions, buildings, and cityscapes. The color slides are found in accretion 19125-07 while the black and white photographs are located in accretion 19125-12.
19125-12A: This accretion contains approximately sixty-five thousand 35mm color slides, six hundred black and white prints, and several thousand black and white negatives, dating from 1961 to 2003 and taken by Department of Economic Development photographer Darren McGee. The images depict scenic seasonal views, activities, events, and cultural sites in regions throughout New York State including Long Island, New York City, Catskills, Taconic, Hudson Valley, Capital District, Adirondacks, Central Leatherstocking, Finger Lakes, Thousand Islands, Chautauqua, Allegany, and Niagara Falls.
19125-12B: This accretion contains color slides dating from 1964 to 2008 and taken by Department of Economic Development photographer Darren McGee. The images depict the following regions: Hudson Valley, Catskills, Capital District, New York City, Adirondacks, Thousand Islands, and Niagara Falls.
