The Federal Water Pollution Control Act of 1965 required each state to adopt water quality standards applicable to interstate waters within or on its borders. The Department of Health's Division of Pure Waters drafted the New York standards. Files include reports, hearing summaries, correspondence, memorandums, and maps.

- This exhibit was presented before the State Tax Commission by several transportation and utility companies as the commission decided the matter of the tentative rate of equalization of special franchises in Buffalo for 1932 (on assessments made in 1931). The series includes columnar tabulations, graphs, and one map. A sworn deposition by the consulting engineer who prepared the schedule explains the methodology and source data used and includes additional summary and distribution tables.

- This series documents payment to State Engineer and Surveyor employees for the differential between their military pay and their state salaries, and mostly consists of monthly payrolls providing: name; state title; military rank; monthly state salary; monthly military pay; amount due from state; and governor's approval number. These payments were made pursuant to a law stipulating that state employees would not lose any of their employment privileges due to absence in military service during World War I.

- This series from the Comptroller's Office consists of monthly measurements of the water depth in canals taken every four miles on their sections, or at one point if a section was less than two miles long.
