- This series consists of descriptive lists, correspondence, extracts of courts martial, discharges, furloughs, special orders, general orders, receipts, invoices, quarterly returns of ordnance stores, and muster out rolls. Most of these documents deal with Company B of Regiment 2 of the Militia Volunteers. Contained within the series is one pre-war letter (1856) written from Joseph B. Hazen, who later served as a captain with Company B, to his father.

- This series consists of miscellaneous claims, correspondence, vouchers, and receipts received and audited by the Auditing Board. A law of 1862 appointed the Inspector General, Judge Advocate General and Quartermaster General to constitute an auditing board to examine claims "incurred in the organization, pay, equipment, quartering, subsistence and other proper expenses of troops raised... for the service of the United States...and which...have not hitherto been allowed and paid."

- The New York State Soldiers Depot was established to be a place of rest and relief for sick, sounded, furloughed, and discharged New York soldiers during the Civil War. This series includes correspondence, descriptive rolls for individual soldiers, receipts for claims, inventories of the depot's kitchen and dining room, discharge papers, receipts for official records received from the Adjutant-General's Office, certificates of enlistment, matron's reports, list of depot expenditures, receipts for work performed at the depot, and furloughs.

- A proposed State Prison at Albany was authorized to be built under Chapter 30 of the Laws of 1796. A Board of Commissioners was appointed, which was authorized to purchase a lot not exceeding four acres, and a number of the records concern the controversy over the purchase of that land. It was also authorized to submit warrants for the cost of building the state prison to the Treasurer, and these warrants were passed on by the Comptroller.
