The series consists of audio-visual material (produced by grantees) that document a variety of events and activities related to the Council on the Arts. The audio tapes contain poetry readings; interviews; public service announcements; speeches; panel discussions; and radio programs. Some video tapes were created as television programs or intended as artistic works; others contain material similar to the audio tapes, as well as documentation of visual arts programs and craft demonstrations sponsored by the Council.

This series consists of the "Empire County" radio drama series produced to emphasize preventive health care and the benefits of a full-time county public health program. Topics include child and infant care, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, immunization, alcoholism, blood banks, diphtheria, fluoridation, medical defense against atomic radiation, narcotics, obesity, polio, rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, undulant fever, and water pollution. The series "Community Controversy," presents the public hearing as a lesson about community about decision-making in a democracy.
