- This series contains War Council dispensation orders granted to industries to provide dispensations from peacetime restrictions on the hiring of minors to industries doing war-related work. Periodic orders were issued to grant a group of companies dispensation for up to six months. Later orders also granted dispensation renewals.

Summary
- This series consists of bound special orders issued by the Adjutant General and commanding officers of specific military units (usually divisions). Unlike general orders, which deal with the State's military system as a whole, special orders deal with specific units and individuals. The orders in this series also reflect the activities of State Militia, volunteer and National Guard units during the Civil War, Spanish-American War, the Mexican Border Campaign, World War I, World War II, and various catastrophes and disturbances.

- Common rule books contain a record of common rules (or orders) entered by the clerk upon motion by the attorney for the plaintiff or defendant. Rules prior to July 1, 1847, were entered by the clerk of the Supreme Court of Judicature in New York City. Starting July 1, 1847, rules were entered by the clerk of the city and county of New York. Each entry contains the case title, date of rule, and rule granted.

- The newly-established Court of Appeals assumed custody of the records and papers of the former Court of Chancery, including many files relating to cases pending at the time the Court of Chancery was abolished in 1847. The documents in this series consist of the order by a Supreme Court justice for transfer of papers in a Chancery case from the Court of Appeals to the county clerk in a particular county.

- This series includes documents relating to the assignment and sale of property of insolvent debtors who petitioned for relief, or the attachment and sale of property of "absconding, concealed, or non-resident debtors" in response to the petition of creditors. Most of the petitions were directed to the Recorder of the City of New York. Other petitions were directed to a justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature. Documents include petitions of debtors and their creditors requesting sale of property; affidavits of creditors; accounts of debts owed to creditors; orders for assignment of property to trustees for sale; and documents discharging the debtors from further liability. Most of the files related to debtors residing in New York City. Some files relate to debtors elsewhere in the state.

- This series consists of draft orders and decrees issued by the Vice Chancellor, copies of reports of fees collected by the court, lists of delinquent guardians, routine correspondence with the Chancellor and Register, appointment documents and oaths of office of court officials, and miscellaneous documents (e.g. deeds, letters, and mortgages) used as exhibits in cases. The draft orders, comprising one half of the series, were presumably entered in Clerk's Minutes of Common Orders and Clerk's Minutes of Decrees.

Summary
- Chapter 9 of the Laws of 1873 provided that any case placed on the calendar of the Commission of Appeals, called for argument, and no other disposition made thereof at the time of the call, shall stand dismissed. In such instances, the commission would enter an order of dismissal that was to be considered absolute unless, on the first day of the next term, one or more of the parties resubmitted the case to be heard by the commission. This volume lists names of parties to cases called for argument on May 5, 1874 and dismissed without being resubmitted.
