This series consists of descriptive lists, correspondence, extracts of courts martial, discharges, furloughs, special orders, general orders, receipts, invoices, quarterly returns of ordnance stores, and muster out rolls. Most of these documents deal with Company B of Regiment 2 of the Militia Volunteers. Contained within the series is one pre-war letter (1856) written from Joseph B. Hazen, who later served as a captain with Company B, to his father.

This series consists of muster rolls for each division and brigade in the New York National Guard, as well as all organizations in the New York Naval Militia. Information provided generally includes: name; rank; whether present or absent at annual muster; date of rank; date and rank of original entry into service; and remarks on any change in status. Each roll also lists names of men gained or lost since the last annual muster, by discharge, promotion, expulsion, transfer, removal, desertion, or death. NOTE: Only Naval Militia muster rolls are available for the period 1942-1954.
This series consists of correspondence; proceedings relating to courts-martial; descriptive lists; inspection reports; ordnance returns; muster rolls; morning reports; and general and special orders pertaining to the 1st New York Light Artillery. Most records concern subjects such as battery inspections, the replacement of lost or unserviceable equipment, the appointment of officers, the granting or denial of leaves of absence, and various courts-martial on which the unit's officers served.

This series consists of bound volumes of bimonthly muster rolls registering officers and enlisted men from New York National Guard units that served in the U.S. Army during World War I. Some memoranda are interspersed within the volumes. Filed in the Adjutant General's Office, these rolls were used to investigate and settled claims or questions affecting officers and enlisted men and their heirs.

This series consists of 99 muster rolls from the 5th and 13th New York Calvary, and the 58th, 68th, 119th, and 141st New York State Volunteers. Each muster roll contains the following information: name and rank of the soldier, where and when they were mustered in, person they were mustered in by, age, terms of service, and a breakdown of their salary due. Some vouchers and forms regarding servants also appear.
