- This series consists of maps of wildlife habitats in urban areas throughout the state. The series includes 107 Mylar overlays entitled "Urban Wildlife Habitat Inventory Overlay Maps," and 24 "Urban Area Enlargement" print maps (paper). Habitat areas are demarcated on the Mylar overlays by alphanumeric codes; no legend appears to explain these codes. The print maps cover the counties of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, and Westchester. These maps are apparently the base maps with which some of the overlays may be used.

- This series documents the recovery of the World Trade Center site in the months immediately following the September 11 terrorist attacks. Information includes restricted zones, debris calculations, thermal hot spots, damaged buildings and command posts, and other aerial photographs showing progress over time. Also included are aerial photographs of the Staten Island debris processing site at Fresh Kills. The maps assisted federal, state, and local government emergency personnel working at the World Trade Center site.

The records also include some documentation of transfer of jurisdiction to other state agencies. Documented projects were located in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island as well as Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, and Greene counties. Typed of records include survey receipts, payroll logs, survey descriptions, phone message slips, survey calculations, copies of adjacent upland deeds, newspaper articles, and survey maps.

- The Laws of 1903, Chapter 147 authorized the State Engineer to appropriate lands, structures, and waters for the use of the improved canals (Barge Canal). This series consists of the original linen and paper maps created and maintained by the State Engineer and Surveyor and its succeeding agencies. The bound volumes constitute a five-volume set of maps showing land appropriations made pursuant to Chapter 79 of the Laws of 1895.

- The Barge Canal Terminal Commission studied the question of providing publicly controlled terminal facilities for New York State Canals. This series consists of linen plans and drawings depicting Barge Canal terminal locations and terminal construction specifications. Plans depict drawings and specifications for furnishing, installing, testing, assembling, and improving terminal elements. Map keys show terminal location and work to be completed. Voided contracts are noted. Extensive gaps exist in this series; records remain with the agency.
