- This series contains the original, signed and engrossed acts passed by the State Legislature beginning in the year 1778. Each law contains the text of the bill, the signatures of the speaker of the Assembly, president of the Senate , and the governor with date signed. On the reverse of the final page is an endorsement, giving the chapter number, a short title, and signature of the secretary of state with certification that the bill became a law on the specified date.

- This series contains reference copies of laws and regulations concerning the Board of Charities and the institutions under its supervision. Included are a copy of the 1927 amended State Charities Law, "Rules for the Control of State Institutions in the Department of Charities" and "Revised By-Laws of the State Agricultural and Industrial School" which lays out the powers and duties of the Board of Visitors, institution officers, Board of Classification, and standing committees as well as the classification of boys and parole of boys.

- The "Record of Laws" is a transcription of the laws of New York for the years 1777-1802, bound pursuant to the Laws of 1819. Each chapter transcription includes a signed statement by the Secretary of State or his deputy certifying that the copy has been compared with the original and that corrections were made. The first volume contains the record of laws for the legislative session of 1777, not found in the Enrolled Acts of the Legislature (Series 13036), which commence in 1778.

- This series consists of an apparently incomplete, unpublished draft of a revision of the Code of Public Instruction. It contains the "Consolidated School Law" of 1894, as amended, and other statutes relating to education in force in 1897; followed by several chapters explaining and interpreting aspects of the laws. Non-administrative or fiscal chapters titles include: Arbor Day; Blind; Compulsory Education; Deaf and Dumb; School Commissioners and Commissioner Districts; School Districts; Schoolhouses and Appendages; and School District Libraries and Librarians.

Each document includes a certified copy of the law and a page giving the name of the municipality, title of law, and its number. The physical form of the laws varies greatly. The laws are arranged alphabetically by name of political subdivision, then numerically. The original laws are not indexed, but they were printed annually and those volumes are indexed.

Summary
- These are commonly known as "Dongan's Laws." The first chapter of the laws is the "Charter of Liberties and Privileges" which was passed by the assembly (first New York legislature) on October 17, 1683. Through these laws the English Colonial Governor, Colonel Thomas Dongan, a Catholic, extended freedom of religion and other important rights to the colony. This provision was included in substance in Section 38 of the Constitution of 1777.

- This series is a scrapbook which has various laws of New York pasted into it. This book belonged to Augustus Schoonmaker, Jr., who served as attorney general of New York State from January 1, 1878 to December 31, 1879. The laws do not seem to have any connection to each other. The book also contains appointments of Schoonmaker, although many of them are pasted over.
