Summary
This series consists of approximately 1900 original linen maps produced by the State Engineer and Surveyor. The maps are popularly known as "Blue Line," "Laws of 1910 Maps," and "Abandonment Maps." The maps depict all state owned lands and property prior to improvements completed for the Barge Canal System; the location of state property appropriated for the Barge Canal; and the location of the old canals and related state property in relation to the Barge Canal.

The series consists of maps produced by the Adirondack Park Agency for the Adirondack Park Land Use and Development Plan of 1973. The maps consist of a printed base map of each county (sometimes done in sections) prepared by the Office of Planning Services, with an attached plastic film overlay in colors representing the various land use classifications. Additionally, wilderness areas and "primitive areas" are represented.

Summary
The bulk of this series consists of area and point data overlay maps produced for land use analysis and planning by government and private planning, development, and conservation agencies. Area data overlays provide outlines of major land use categories including agricultural; commercial/industrial land; mining; forest land; outdoor recreation area; residential area; transportation land use; water resources; and non-productive land. Point data overlays include rural residences, mobile homes, outdoor recreation facilities, schools, and solid waste disposal sites.
