- This series consists of ten field books documenting surveys for proposed state roads. Two of the field books contain data on a state road from Lake Erie to the Hudson River that was proposed and surveyed, but never built. It is unknown whether the other field books refer to any roads that were actually built. The notes very occasionally include brief descriptions of soil conditions, terrain, and establishments on route.

- Records on this microfilm relate mostly to surveys, sales, and conveyances of lands in western New York owned by the Pulteney family of Great Britain. Sir William Pulteney (with others) purchased the unsold lands of the (Oliver) Phelps and (Nathaniel) Gorham syndicate in 1792. Records consist of letter books, deed books, surveys, maps and other documents relating to the Pulteney Estate in western New York.

The records also include some documentation of transfer of jurisdiction to other state agencies. Documented projects were located in the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island as well as Westchester, Rockland, Dutchess, Orange, and Greene counties. Typed of records include survey receipts, payroll logs, survey descriptions, phone message slips, survey calculations, copies of adjacent upland deeds, newspaper articles, and survey maps.
