This series consists of photographic images of the Flushing Remonstrance taken before and after the New York State Capitol fire of 1911. Material includes 3 glass negatives of the Flushing Remonstrance taken before the fire; prints made from those negatives; and photographic prints of the Remonstrance, after it was repaired following the fire, but prior to its display in the New York State Freedom Train Exhibits (1950).

Conservation Commission forest fire detection map negatives

Summary
This series consists of mostly glass plate negatives of topographic maps used in forest fire detection in the northern, central, and southern portions of the state. Observation rings, with observation stations or fire towers located at the center, are superimposed on the maps. Adjacent fire towers would use these maps to report smoke and ranger stations could then triangulate the location.

These glass plate negatives and prints depict views of conditions inside factories, usually showing workers in chemical, food, glass, clothing, and other industries. The images show inadequate ventilation or exhaust systems; dirt and animals contacting food products; unguarded machinery; overcrowding of machinery and narrow or obstructed aisles; young children working; excessive heat and humidity; inadequate lighting; inadequate sanitation and other unhealthy conditions; and structural deficiencies in buildings and other physical dangers. Also included are views of workers' homes.

Negatives and photographs of roads and road construction

Summary
These photographs show damaged roads in eastern upstate New York; machinery used to construct or resurface roads; work in progress; roads before and after repair; various road surfaces like macadam or concrete; road signs; and automobile accidents. These were probably created by the Albany division office to plan highway projects for the division, to examine work done on the highways, and to inspect all state and county highways and report on them to the State Highway Commission when requested.
