This series consists of statements and tables of income (mainly rents), from taxes on the real estate of the late William Beard whose lands were to be acquired by the Barge Canal Terminal Commission for its terminal in New York Harbor. Also included are working papers submitted by the Comptroller's office to the Attorney General in litigation over the estate. They include data on the operation of the old Erie Basin, which had apparently been leased to Beard as agent of the state.
