These historical sketches which include photographs were collected from school systems in 1916 to illustrate a report on the history of school systems in cities and villages. The sketches generally provide information on the establishment and location of the first school or school district in the city or village, and development of the school system's programs, facilities, administration, and geographic area. Photographs of school buildings, classrooms, facilities, students, and administrators accompany each sketch.
