- This series contains Indian treaties or deeds of cession and related documents filed by the secretary of state. The native groups involved in the treaties filed in this series were the Oneida, Brothertown, Stockbridge, Cayuga, Mohawk, Seneca, and Onondaga Indians, and the Seven Nations of Canada. The "treaties" generally take the form of a deed of cession from the sachems, chiefs, and warriors of a particular nation or group to the people of the state of New York.

- This volume contains recorded copies of three partition deeds for Adirondack Forest Preserve Lands owned in common by the state and private parties, executed pursuant to the Laws of 1895, Chapter 273. There is also a deed to the United States for land on Staten Island and accompanying deeds of cession of jurisdiction by the governor to the U.S., made pursuant to the Laws of 1896.

Summary
- This series consists of draft or executed deeds for lands sold for unpaid taxes and not redeemed. Deeds cite specific laws authorizing tax sales but are otherwise in the standard form of a deed. A law of 1823 provided that when land taxes were unpaid for a period of two years the land would be sold. If the owner paid the taxes within one year after the sale, it reverted back to that person's ownership.

- The series consists of field books, notes, maps, and deeds relating to the Holland Land Company's lands in the western part of New York State. Records include the original field books from the surveys of 1798 and 1799, which provide a systematic survey of the Holland Land Purchase; field notes (journals) of the survey of township lines in various ranges; and original deeds for the lands of the Holland Purchase.

- This series contains mostly warrants of survey but includes also a few unrelated legal documents. Colonial governors ordered surveys of all lands for which settlers applied for purchase. The warrants are the governor's orders to the surveyor general to carry out the survey. They provide name of governor; name of surveyor general; for whom land is to be surveyed; acreage and location of land; and date of warrant. The records suffered some burn damage in the 1911 State Capitol fire.

- This series was created by the Canal Corporation of the Thruway Authority to establish state property boundaries adjacent to the Northern and Southern Reservoir Systems. It consists primarily of maps and structure drawings of the Northern and Southern Reservoirs of the Barge Canal. Most maps relate to either the Northern or Southern Reservoir System in whole or part; some relate to the entire reservoir system, and others relate to feeders and other reservoirs.
