- This series consists of agendas or "calendars" and background memoranda of the Civil Service Commission. Calendars contain a listing of items to be discussed by the Commission. Typically a calendar contains over one hundred items on topics such as jurisdictional classification, temporary and provisional appointments, leaves of absence, eligible list extensions, selective certification, examination appeals, waiver of requirements, and review of municipal civil service commission rule changes. Memorandums containing background information, recommendations and/or supporting documentation may be included with items.

- This series contains the state historian's copies of calendars and minutes of meetings of the Council and its planning committee. The state historian received copies because the Council's authority included state historic sites. These calendars and minutes contain information on: budget proposals for state parks, planning for acquisition of park lands, proposed legislation concerning parks, and preparation of guides and maps to park lands. They also sometimes include lengthy accounts of discussions at Council meetings.

- This series consists primarily of documents obtained by the Special Counsel to Governor George Pataki in connection with the governor's investigation of potential ethics violations made by then-New York State Comptroller Alan Hevesi. Records were supplied mostly by the Office of the State Comptroller in response to subpoenas. Records were also supplied by the General Counsel to the Office of the New York City Comptroller in response to subpoenas, by the New York State Ethics Commission, and by other sources.
