- This series documents the responsibilities of the Superintendent of Public Works relating to the appropriation of land for canal use. It includes appropriation maps; descriptions of appropriated lands; certificates of filing; and notices and affidavits served on property owners. Maps provide a detailed view of the property to be appropriated; and a detailed narrative description of lands to be appropriated, including the names of property owners and often those of adjoining property owners.

- This series includes documents relating to the assignment and sale of property of insolvent debtors who petitioned for relief, or the attachment and sale of property of "absconding, concealed, or non-resident debtors" in response to the petition of creditors. Most of the petitions were directed to the Recorder of the City of New York. Other petitions were directed to a justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature. Documents include petitions of debtors and their creditors requesting sale of property; affidavits of creditors; accounts of debts owed to creditors; orders for assignment of property to trustees for sale; and documents discharging the debtors from further liability. Most of the files related to debtors residing in New York City. Some files relate to debtors elsewhere in the state.

- This series from the Comptroller's Office consists of correspondence, certificates, affidavits, copies of maps of land grants, surveys of patents and a list of persons forced to quit their farms for failure to pay quit rents. Most records are certificates and affidavits attesting to the amount of taxes due on real estate, ownership of land patents and lots, and remissions from quit rent. Also included are surveys of land patents and maps depicting lots and patents subject to quit rents.

- This series consists of signed affidavits forwarded to the State Comptroller from Greene County officials certifying that the person named killed a bear(s) and is entitled to a ten-dollar bounty. The records contain the name of the Town Supervisor, Justice of the Peace, name of the Town and County, name of person collecting bounty, residence, location where bear was killed, date, amount of bounty, date of affidavit, date when bounty was paid, and the signature of the County Treasurer.

- This series consists of upland application files documenting grant, easement, lease, permit, transfer of jurisdiction, and license transactions of state lands during the years 1799-1916 and 1954-2001. Other transactions documented in this series include state surplus real property; gold, silver, mineral, and fossil deposits on state lands; and leases and transfers of unappropriated lands to the federal government and cessions of jurisdiction to the United States. Documents relating to individual applications are either bundled or filed together in discrete folders.

- This series consists of documents containing evidence of the ownership and registry of vessels, most having their homeport at New York City, other places in New York, or in a nearby state. Documents include certificates of registry, bills of sale, and affidavits of ownership. They document claims from loss of vessels or cargoes to privateers acting for the governments of France, Spain, and the Netherlands. The United States government assumed such claims.
