- This series consists of informational, documentary, and programmatic videos created or sponsored by the Office of Educational Television and Public Broadcasting in the service of New York State Education Department initiatives. Many of these programs aired on local public broadcasting stations around the state. The series includes commissioner of education and New York State Board of Regents-related videos, the "Governor's Conference on Libraries" (a joint initiative with the State Library), appearances by President and Mrs. Bill Clinton at department events, and the "NASA interviews" film reel.

- This series consists of outgoing letters and memoranda from Commissioners Allen and Nyquist, as well as from other NYSED staff. Correspondents include state legislators, district superintendents and other school district personnel, school principals, teachers, and citizens. Commissioner Nyquist's letters include letters referred by the Governors Office to the Commissioner for response. These letters generally request information on NYSED programs and policies, or to protest NYSED or local school programs and policies.

Summary
- In 1969, Governor Nelson Rockefeller and the Board of Regents created the New York State Commission on the Quality, Cost, and Financing of Elementary and Secondary Education. School financing recommendations made by the commission, which would have increased school taxes in upstate districts and reduced school expenditures in a significant number of downstate suburban districts, were never implemented. These files were generated by staff of the governor's office in the course of researching and making recommendations regarding state aid for education.
