These records were kept as part of the organization's efforts to document the war effort on the home front. The series includes a nearly complete run of the <emph render="italic">Yonkers Home News</emph>, several issues of the <emph render="italic">Ossining Courier</emph>, and a pamphlet entitled "Organizing Your Community For War Records Work," published by the National Jewish Welfare Board.

- The Office of Civilian Protection divided the state into three districts: Eastern District; Western District; and Metropolitan New York City and Long Island.
