Summary
The Temporary State Commission on the Water Supply Needs of Southeastern New York was created in 1969. Its mandate was to study the future water supply needs of the southeastern portion of the state; the relationship of these needs to the water resources available; alternative methods for constructing, financing, and administering the needed water supply facilities; and to make recommendations on how to meet future water needs. This series documents the regulation of public water supply systems that are owned and operated by municipalities, as well as private companies, organizations and individuals. The series include water supply application files and maps. The application files reflect the process of applying for and receiving permits for proposed public water supply systems. The application maps contains maps, blueprints, profiles and drawings depicting the location of main water lines, reservoirs, aqueducts, water basins, dams, tunnels and related water works structures.

Also included are related plans, maps, profiles, sections, and photographs.

This series consists of two questionnaires: one describing in detail the water supply and distribution for each respondent community and the other with questions about their sewage disposal systems. Water Supply Commission used these to conduct an investigation and report for the legislature. The questionaires were distributed to cities, incorporated villages, private water companies, and towns statewide.

This series consists of topographic survey maps made as part of a plan to build a proposed storage dam on the Sacandaga River at or near Conklingville, Saratoga County. The maps show the river and its watershed and details of the lands and property that would be affected by the damming and flooding. The maps show municipal boundary lines, land features, details of land and property, buildings, roads, and railroads.
