- This series consists of maps compiled by the Office of the Secretary of State in its capacity as the general recording office for the government of New York State. The maps depict boundaries between New York and other states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Also included is a plan and profile relating to the Spuyten Duyvil Parkway which lays out the streets, avenues, roads, parkways, public parks, squares and places in the twelfth, twenty-third and twenty-fourth wards of the City of New York".

- This series contains responses from two hazardous waste surveys. The first was conducted by Department of Environmental Conservation headquarters (Albany) staff in 1976-1977, where staff interviewed companies throughout the state that were engaged in hazardous waste activities and completed a form template. The second was administered by the Interagency Task Force (IATF) investigating waste disposal in Erie and Niagara Counties in 1978-1979. Files for the second survey include responses from multiple companies, including Allied Chemical Corporation, Hooker Chemical & Plastics Corporation, and Union Carbide Corporation.

Summary
- This single manuscript map shows the town of Brooklyn in the county of Kings as it was surveyed by Sidney Herbert and Robert Tolford in 1834. This survey was carried out at the request and under the direction of town supervisor Jeremiah Johnson. The survey was apparently done in anticipation of the incorporation of the City of Brooklyn which occurred by legislation passed in April of 1834. This map clearly shows all nine wards.

- This series was created by the Canal Corporation of the Thruway Authority to establish state property boundaries adjacent to the Northern and Southern Reservoir Systems. It consists primarily of maps and structure drawings of the Northern and Southern Reservoirs of the Barge Canal. Most maps relate to either the Northern or Southern Reservoir System in whole or part; some relate to the entire reservoir system, and others relate to feeders and other reservoirs.

- Legislation of 1921 established a Board of Estimate and Control and directed it to conduct a survey of all state departments, offices, and institutions to determine where waste and duplication of effort existed. This series consists mainly of typescript studies or "surveys" made by Board employees concerning particular state agencies or institutions.

- These surveys were used to determine the effectiveness and need for improvement in Federal and State labor relations laws. Approximately 400 businesses and 250 labor unions answered questions on the role of government in guaranteeing rights of collective bargaining, the need for changes in collective bargaining laws; and the role of mediation and arbitration in settling labor disputes.. Also included are examples, correspondence, lists of businesses and unions receiving questionnaires, and response statistics.

- This series consists of ten field books documenting surveys for proposed state roads. Two of the field books contain data on a state road from Lake Erie to the Hudson River that was proposed and surveyed, but never built. It is unknown whether the other field books refer to any roads that were actually built. The notes very occasionally include brief descriptions of soil conditions, terrain, and establishments on route.

- This series compiled by the State Engineer and Surveyor documents the appraisal, surveying, purchase, and sale of lands within the state. Records include land tract sales, land appraisals, surveys and descriptions of tracts, reports (such as land boundaries and state canals); correspondence (including about oyster lands), field notes and maps, leases and court records. Many records deal with boundary lines between New York State and the neighboring states and between various towns within the state.
