Summary
- These reports from Central New York Institution for Deaf Mutes were submitted each fiscal year to corporate members and benefactors by the school's board of trustees. Continuing to operate as a private facility known as Central New York School for the Deaf, it became a state facility in 1963. Some reports after 1891 had pictures of buildings, students, or alphabetic diagrams.

- This series consists of correspondence, reports, publicity materials, deeds, and court records dealing with the founding, operation, and administration of the Thomas Indian School. Much of the correspondence concerns enrollment of Indian children at the school and placement of graduates at other institutions for further education. Also included are the contents of a cornerstone and lists of students and visitors. Access to certain records is restricted to protect personal privacy.

The Assembly report contains narrative statements or statistics on asylum operation and population. The government report gives statistical information on teachers; employees; students; crops; livestock produced; and subjects taught.

Most responses also include the founding dates of schools, and information on record storage conditions and previous losses of records.
