This series consists of maps compiled by the Office of the Secretary of State in its capacity as the general recording office for the government of New York State. The maps depict boundaries between New York and other states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Also included is a plan and profile relating to the Spuyten Duyvil Parkway which lays out the streets, avenues, roads, parkways, public parks, squares and places in the twelfth, twenty-third and twenty-fourth wards of the City of New York".

These studies are on many subjects, but tend to focus on real estate values, land use, and population in communities in New York. Examples include police arrest survey; social and economic survey of Indian reservations; real property survey (several cities); report on Albany transients and homeless; professional and service projects; 1850 census index for Buffalo; and Erie County street names.

Summary
These maps and profiles from the Surveyor General were produced for a report to the legislature suggesting the best route for a road never built. Field notes document surveys of a proposed route between Lake Erie and the Hudson River and include brief descriptions of the land at each survey point. Maps show sections between towns and villages. Information includes town names; waterways; roads; estate boundaries and owner's names and inns and taverns and names of their owners.
