- The Legislature appointed commissioners to construct roads from Grieg and Port Leyden in Lewis County, to Brown's Tract in Herkimer County. The commissioners were empowered to levy a highway tax. This series consists of assessment rolls containing lists of lots taxed. Information includes lot numbers, acreage, and tax amounts.

- This series consists of statements of taxes due from landowners for laying or improving roads adjacent to their property. Each entry includes lot number, owner's name, tax due, date and amount of payment, and payee. Roads included are those from Chester to Canton, Hopkinton to North West Bay, St. Lawrence River to Albany, Salina to Adams, Turin to Emilyville, Salina to Redfield, and from Mexico Harbour to the town of Constantia.

- This series contains letters designating New York highways as eligible for federal aid, letters approving revisions or additions to the system as of 1931, and letters approving federal aid for highways. Included are descriptions of routes approved as of January 9, 1931, including beginning and ending points, intermediate cities, villages, and hamlets; and correspondence concerning designations of "urban areas." as defined by the Federal-aid Highway Act. Many of the letters refer to maps that are not in the State Archives.

- This series consists of maps of urban area boundaries drafted in district offices or modified from, U.S. Geological Survey quadrangle maps. Maps had to be approved by the U.S. Public Roads Administration or Bureau of Public Roads for states wishing to receive special aid for highways lying within urban areas. Some maps show all Federal-Aid highways systems; older maps show only primary, secondary, and urban routes.

- This series consists of statement reports relating to using of a percentage of property tax assessments to finance money highway repairs. The reports are primarily on printed forms. Some forms are accompanied by comptroller's correspondence and board of supervisor's correspondence, etc. For some counties (very limited) there are maps of highways delineated. The form contains a listing by county of assessed valuation of taxable property and percentages of assessment to use for the money system of highway repair.
