This series contains publications about home front activities such as salvage, child care, education, and collection and preservation of war records. These records were kept as part of the organization's efforts to document the war effort on the home front. The series includes a nearly complete run of the <emph render="italic">Yonkers Home News</emph>, several issues of the <emph render="italic">Ossining Courier</emph>, and a pamphlet entitled "Organizing Your Community For War Records Work," published by the National Jewish Welfare Board.

Summary
The State Office of General Services (OGS) operated the state's record center storage facility until the establishment of the State Archives in 1978. These forms were completed in response to a statewide survey carried out by OGS in 1975 to determine the total volume of records in state agency custody. This series consists of records series inventories and accompanying records disposition requests, memorandums, background material, and correspondence submitted in response to the OGS survey.

This series contains correspondence between State Historian Albert Corey and numerous county and local historians regarding the disposition of home front war records. This operation was undertaken as part of the State Historian's role to help preserve the State's heritage. The letters discuss the appointment of local historians, potential repositories, and other matters pertaining to post-war plans for the records. Included are lists of names and addresses of local directors of civilian protection, civilian mobilization, and local war councils.

This series contains copies of evaluations and reviews of plans conducted in order to establish a records program at the State War Council. This set was held by Division of Records Director Karl Hartzell, possibly as a model for the War Council's record collection program.
