The prison physician was required to keep records of all incarcerated persons discharged from the prison. These registers for those discharged from Auburn Prison include: inmate name and number; age at entrance; color; nativity; crime; when received and discharged; term; number of previous convictions; married or single; habits; weight when received and discharged; health when received and discharged; and how discharged. The last volume omits weight when discharged and adds mental age; time served; and date convicted.

Summary information on adult incarcerated individuals is disclosable under law. State Archives staff will review records containing probation, parole, medical, and juvenile criminal history data and disclose information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law and Personal Privacy Protection Law. The identity of victims of sex crimes is not disclosable. Unless a specific law forbids disclosure indefinitely, all records must be disclosed after 75 years.

Summary
This series consists of the Clinton Prison physician's log of daily, monthly, and yearly totals of information on the Clinton inmate population. Information includes inmate count; number discharged, died, transferred or received, applied for medical treatment, treated, not treated, excused, and days excused; and names of inmates who attempted escape, escaped or recaptured; died; transferred or were received from other prisons. Also included is a log of meals served and average cost per meal.
