This series contains Indian treaties or deeds of cession and related documents filed by the secretary of state. The native groups involved in the treaties filed in this series were the Oneida, Brothertown, Stockbridge, Cayuga, Mohawk, Seneca, and Onondaga Indians, and the Seven Nations of Canada. The "treaties" generally take the form of a deed of cession from the sachems, chiefs, and warriors of a particular nation or group to the people of the state of New York.

This series consists of a detailed chronological record of financial transactions at Thomas Indian School. Entries record transaction (items purchased, quantity, unit cost, and cash receipts); name of the merchant or disburser of funds; total amount of transaction; and date. Also included is a certificate of appointment of George I. Lincoln as agent of the Onondaga Indians; a watercolor painting of flowers, signed by Aleck George; and lithograph, "What We Have We'll Hold!" depicting a nationalistic theme, copyright 1900.

This series consists mostly of affidavits documenting a claimant's right to reimbursement from War of 1812 service in a New York militia or volunteer unit, as well as certificates issued to claimants after the Adjutant General's Office reviewed and adjusted their claims. Summary
The Onondaga Indian Reservation was established by treaty between the Onondaga Indians and the State of New York in 1788. After various tracts were sold by the Onondagas, they petitioned the state for a re-survey of their reservation. This series consists of field notes of a United State Department of the Interior survey of the Onondaga Indian Reservation executed in 1938 to restore and remark the boundaries of the reservation established by an earlier re-survey executed in 1856.

This series consists of the original bill of sale and record of the action of the Council of the Onondaga Nation which sold and transferred the Onondaga Nation's interest in the wampum belts and office of wampum-keeper to the State University of New York.
This volume contains the 1845 population schedules for all the Indian reservations in New York (except the reservations on Long Island). Census schedules are present for the following reservations or groups: Oneida, Onondaga, Tuscarora, Buffalo [Creek], Seneca of Cattaraugus, Cayuga of Cattaraugus, Seneca of Allegany, Tonawanda, and St. Regis [Mohawk]. Data collected is similar to the general population census but does not include voting, citizenship, or militia service.
