Summary
- This series consists predominantly of land patents, in Dutch, through which the director-general and council of New Netherland allowed private individuals to take possession of land in freehold, as opposed to the previous policy of only granting permission to hold land for cultivation. Also included are some deeds that record the purchase of land from natives for the West India Company and several patroons.

Summary
- The Holland Land Company was an association of Dutch banks and other investors speculating in American land during the late 1700s. This series consists of records of persons who purchased and were deeded lands from the Holland Land Company. Each table apparently records sales from a particular geographic area and includes purchaser; date; lot(s); township; acreage; purchase price; and reference in Deed or Mortgage Books.

- This single volume series indexes deeds recorded by the Secretary of State during the period 1641-1846, encompassing Series A0453, Deed Books 1-42 and 43 (in part). An alphabetical index to grantees and grantors is provided for each deed book. The back of the volume contains an index to mortgages to the State ("State Mortgages") recorded by the Secretary of State during the period 1807-1842, encompassing Series A0477, Mortage Registers 1-3. An alphabetical index to mortgagors is provided for each mortgage register.

- This series consists of releases of right and claim to property by individuals to the State of New York. Almost all of the releases convey real property to the state. Releases are for lands erroneously granted by letters patent; purchased by the state for public buildings; seized during the Revolutionary War; and or redeemed for delinquent taxes. Each release lists the name of the releasor, date of release, and date of filing in the Secretary of State's Office.

- These survey maps were made for landholders, for partitioning of land, and for disposition of as yet unappropriated lands. Most maps depict areas of eastern upstate New York; some show lands bordering on or within Vermont. The maps generally provide: name, location, or number of the town, tract, patent, or Indian reservation surveyed; lot boundaries and dimensions; lot numbers; names of landholders (sometimes); waterways; and the number of acres in area surveyed (sometimes).

- This series consists of upland application files documenting grant, easement, lease, permit, transfer of jurisdiction, and license transactions of state lands during the years 1799-1916 and 1954-2001. Other transactions documented in this series include state surplus real property; gold, silver, mineral, and fossil deposits on state lands; and leases and transfers of unappropriated lands to the federal government and cessions of jurisdiction to the United States. Documents relating to individual applications are either bundled or filed together in discrete folders.
