- This series consists of the annual reports of Injunction Masters on the accounts of all court appointed guardians, committees, and receivers in their circuits. These reports were originally filled with the Chancellor and appropriate Vice Chancellor pursuant to court rule 156. The reports are in narrative form and contain the following information for each account: whether it was kept correctly; whether there was any waste or inappropriate use of the funds; and whether funds were properly invested and secured.

- This series consists of filings by supreme court justices for each judicial district designating court terms and assigning judges. Also included are changes in the date of a court session, a presiding judge, or the extension of a court term or appointment of an extraordinary term. Information includes the locations, dates, and names of presiding judges for each type of court term appointed. After 1905, the governor's certificates of designation of judges were filed with the assignments of judges.

- This fragmentary series contains bills of costs awarded to winning parties. Each bill contains a list of costs incurred by the plaintiff in the progress of civil action from the initial retaining fee and warrant of attorney to filing of the execution. Court rules specified the costs to be allowed in actions in Supreme Court. Costs taxed in each case were included in the final judgment award.

- Collection contains writs of arrest and a small number of other writs, issued out of the Supreme Court of Judicature. Over ninety percent of the documents are writs of capias ad respondendum, ordering a sheriff to arrest a civil defendant, thereby bringing him into the court's custody to answer the plaintiff's declaration of claim. Also present are writs of fieri facias and writs of capias ad satisfaciendum, ordering a sheriff to execute a civil judgment, and other writs for special purposes. At the end of the series are a few writs issued by the Court of Chancery, 1810-1813.

Most cases involved incompetency (i.e., lunatics, infants, drunkards); administration of estates; and insolvent corporate bodies (i.e., churches, banks, railroads). Files include petitions; reports; testimony transcripts; copies of orders; affidavits; inquisitions; bonds for performance of duties; property inventories; documentary evidence and exhibits. The files do not contain decrees. Cases often contain detailed information on the background, behavior, and financial state of individuals or corporations.

Summary
- This series consists of wills, grants of administration, and (prior to ca. 1710) inventories and accounts of decedent estates. These documents were recorded and maintained by New York Colony's Prerogative Court and then by the State Court of Probates. Many of the wills were made by widows; several executors were women; some wills bequeathed slaves; and Dutch wills sometimes had English translations. Volumes before 1700 also include other records such as governor, council, and criminal proceedings; marriage licenses, and coroner's inquests.

- This series contains recognizance rolls, which are records of the undertaking of bail, made before a justice of the Supreme Court of Judicature. The roll contains the same information as is found in the plaintiff's declaration, followed by a statement of the obligation of the bail. The recognizance roll was the formal record upon which a plaintiff could bring an action against the defendant's bail.

Each affidavit includes statements of the veteran's war service; a schedule of his real and personal property; applicant's age; residence; former military rank; and physical disability (if any). Such affidavits could be made in any court of record, but were most often made in the Court of Common Pleas, rather than the Supreme Court.
