Series consists of records related to security operations of the 1980 Winter Olympics, which were held at Lake Placid, New York. The records include reports, manuals, maps of the area, security plans, budget files, emergency disaster plans, search and rescue procedures, communications plans, personnel assignments and slides used in security briefings.

This series consists of overlay maps corresponding to United States Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle maps showing locations of state lands in the Adirondack region (mostly eastern Adirondacks). The maps also depict survey patents. Maps are 1:24,000 scale and contain extensive pencil and color-coded notations and additions. Some camera negatives are included.

The Department of Transportation and Tri-State Regional Planning Commission aerial photographs primarily depict parts of New York State adjacent to Connecticut and New Jersey. Some additional images include counties, as follows: Broome, Columbia, Dutchess, Erie, Fulton, Greene, Madison, Monroe, Montgomery, Nassau, Niagara, Oneida, Onondaga, Ontario, Orange, Oswego, Otsego, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Steuben, Suffolk, Sullivan, Tioga, Tompkins, Wayne, and Westchester. Some photographs depict parcel measurements, batch maps, and original town coding maps for Western New York.

Other items include state atlases and gazetteers, highway condition maps, highway planning material, and motorist maps.
