Most of this series consists of letters written to the Comptroller requesting searches of records to confirm individuals' Revolutionary War service. Replies from the controller are not included. Additional material includes bills for repair and storage of small arms; memoranda concerning state military accounts; certificates of employment of clerks in the adjutant general's office; War of 1812 claim number 16,273; and a few claims for the state campaign badge awarded for military service during the Spanish-American War.

This album includes photographs of the 12th Infantry Regiment from 1898-1899 largely over the course of its deployment to Cuba in 1899. Activities depicted include scenes of camp life (mess lines, working, relaxing, tents, pets, games, visitors), military life (inspections, marching, drilling), and people and places (buildings, fortifications, coastline, on board a ship).

This series consists of cards containing military and naval service abstracts and basic personal data for New Yorkers who served in the U.S. Regular Army, Navy, and Marines during the Spanish-American War (1898); Philippine-American War, or "Philippine Insurrection" (1899-1902); and China Relief Expedition against the "Boxer Rebellion" (1900-1901). The cards were procured by the New York Bureau of War Records from the federal government pursuant to Chapter 75 of the Laws of 1919.

These records were created by the Adjutant General's Office to document the military service of individual members of the New York State National Guard and Naval Militia who served in the Spanish-American War. Each abstract describes the soldier's enlistment; how, when, and at what grade he left the organization and why. Sometimes an abstract includes a soldier's physical description occupation, marital status, next of kin, age, residence, place of birth, and service history.
