- This series consists of a draft version of a small amount of minutes of the legislative and executive sessions of the Council of the Colony of New York. The Council shared executive and legislative powers with the governor. Minutes include laws, orders, and resolutions concerning establishment and organization of courts; granting and settlement of land; regulation and construction of buildings, streets, and wharves; trade and commerce, including restrictions on exports; trade and relations with Indians; and levying of taxes.

- These reports of goods imported to New York Colony consist of single page reports containing the name and type of sailing vessel, name of captain, place from which shipment originated, and an itemized list of goods. Most entries document importation of rum but also shipments of cocoa, wine, gin, and brandy are recorded. Scattered reports document the importation of slaves primarily from the West Indies. Many volumes were severely damaged by the 1911 Capitol fire.

- Books of general entries contain the office copies of documents issued by colonial governors Richard Nicolls, Francis Lovelace, and Sir Edmund Andros. They reveal the governors' efforts to enact the policies of the British monarchy, and provide insight into seventeenth century society, commerce, industry, agriculture, law, and land development. Documents include orders, warrants, instructions, and letters to local officials, as well as travel passes, commercial licenses, marriage licenses, and land records.

- This is a series of surveys of unappropriated state lands or, in a few cases, land being resold. Many volumes contain surveys of land in the New Military Tract, the Totton and Crossfield Purchase, or George Scriba's patent. Volumes generally provide survey notes; name of surveyor; name and/or number of township, tract, or lot; county; date survey was completed or filed; occasional rough maps; and/or valuations of lots.

Summary
- This series consists of accounts of revenues and expenditures recorded by the Treasurer of New York Colony, 1721-1729, and tax assessment lists submitted by Superintendents of Taxes to the Treasurer of New York State, 1779-1788. The records document the first, second, and third wards of the City of Albany as well as the following counties: Albany, Dutchess, Montgomery, Orange, Queens, Richmond, Ulster, and Westchester.

Summary
- This series consists of the original engrossed (or final) letters patent and military patents, which were transcribed pursuant to Chapter 13 of the Laws of 1786. That law states that these volumes were "by various accidents so injured that a frequent Recourse to them may render them illegible." The transcriptions were inserted into the books of Letters Patent (Series 12943) and Military Patents (Series A0447). In addition to recorded patents, the first two volumes also contain records of confirmations of deeds dating prior to the English conquest of New Netherland in 1664, commissions and appointments of civil and military officers, naturalizations and denizations of non-British subjects, and a few Indian deeds.

- These records document the settlement of civil and criminal cases by the governor and council sitting as the Court of Assizes. The court tried appeals of lower court decisions and served as an equity court in cases to which no specific legal provisions applied. Cases concerned: land title and/or inheritance disputes; unpaid debts; illegal liquor sales; and attempted murder. Records include warrants; lists of petitions and appeals; and summaries of trial proceedings. Records have burn damage.
