Summary
This series consists of blueprint plans, estimates, and drawings for state facilities including state hospitals, buildings, and schools; Eastern Division of the canal; and state armories and barracks. Many plans document construction of roads, walkways, water supply systems, and drainage and sewage disposal systems. Also included are contract proposals, specifications, and support documents such as weekly engineer's reports, receipts for material delivered, estimates, contract books, and unidentified rolled plans and blueprints.

Downstate Correctional Facility, located in Dutchess County, N.Y., is a maximum security correctional facility for male felons. Inmate case files describe in great detail the family and social background, arrest, confinement, and release/parole of incarcerated men.

Summary information on adult inmates is disclosable under law. State Archives staff will review records containing probation, parole, medical, and juvenile criminal history data and disclose information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law and Personal Privacy Protection Law. The identity of victims of sex crimes is not disclosable. Unless a specific law forbids disclosure indefinitely, all records must be disclosed after 75 years.

Summary
This series contains survey descriptions and a map of a land grant for which the New York Central Railroad Company applied. The map was prepared to accompany the application for the grant of land under water of the Hudson River. The Railroad Law, Section 8, gives all corporations authority to enter land to have it surveyed in order to decide upon the best possible railroad route.
