- This series consists of roll survey maps for the enlargement of the Middle Division of the Erie Canal. Maps show red lines; blue lines; sectional divisions; old and new channels; profiles; existing structures; names of property owners; and adjacent roads, streets, and buildings. The series also includes approximately 70 linen tracings of earlier maps. These tracings show the relative positions of the Erie Canal and the later Enlarged Canal, and include names of property owners.

The blueprints, arranged by district, are tracings of maps of land appropriations along the Erie Canal in Wayne County (District No. 3) and Monroe and Orleans counties (District No. 4). Each map provides name of person from whom land was appropriated; town and county where located; symbols indicating gas pipe monuments; and a written survey description of the appropriated land.

- This series consists of canal ice permits, which allowed people to extract ice from canals during the seasonal navigational suspension period. Mostly permits are from the Capital District, particularly Watervliet, Green Island and Cohoes. Many were individual men, though a few women and several industries applied for and received ice permits as well. Information includes the name and city of the individual submitting the application and the conditions under which the permit was granted.
