This series consists of maps, descriptions, reports, correspondence, and petitions relating to the examination and documentation of various state and town boundary lines. Included are documents relating to boundary lines between the state of New York and the states of Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Jersey. These records reflect the functions of the office of State Engineer and Surveyor, which was responsible for establishing and maintaining accurate boundaries of state owned land.

Summary
The king appointed members of the councils of New York and New Jersey to investigate and settle a land dispute between Connecticut and the Mohegan Indians. The commission's minutes include: summaries of each party's arguments and the history of the dispute; copies of land sales by Indians to settlers, acts of the Connecticut General Assembly, testimony from previous inquiries; summary lists of documents produced as evidence; depositions and testimony by witnesses; and opinions of commissioners regarding outcome of the dispute.

New York State Engineer and Surveyor drawings of state boundary monuments

Summary
These volumes contain waterpaint drawings of individual boundary monuments and the surrounding landscape marking New York's borders with Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Connecticut. They were produced in conjunction with the State Engineer and Surveyor's triennial examination of previously established boundary markers in 1900. The State Engineer was directed by law to restore or replace damaged or missing markers and to set new ones, if lacking, where the state boundary was intersected by highways or town or county boundaries.

This series maps the official boundary line between the states of Connecticut and New York. Maps begin at the northwest corner of Connecticut and end through Long Island Sound at the western boundary of Rhode Island. They depict the boundary line and the area on both sides for several hundred feet. The maps also show municipalities; land conditions (cultivated, orchard, meadow); natural and man-made features (rivers, ponds, highways, roads); civic structures (churches, tennis courts); and property owners and house locations.
