- This series contains lists of persons upon whom real and/or personal property taxes were levied in response to State tax legislation passed in 1779, 1786, 1787, and 1788. All of the tax lists in the series pertain to districts within Albany County. Lists vary slightly in format from year to year and even within the same year. All, however, feature the names of persons taxed in each district, in no discernible order, and the total amount of taxes owed by each person.

- This series from the Comptroller's Office consists of accounts submitted by the assessors from eleven counties to Commissioners of Taxes. Information includes assessors name; number of days spent assessing lands, preparing lists of assessments, hearing appeals, equalizing the assessments, and preparing the final rolls. Also included are affidavits stating that the work was "actually and diligently" performed; transmittal letters; certifications of elected assessors and collectors of taxes, and abstracts of assessors' accounts.

- The United States government levied a direct property tax in 1798, for which the state administered delinquent accounts. The tax-sale of 1808 was conducted for instances of nonpayment of the U.S. direct tax. While data was generated for all sales of farms in New York State during the years 1983-1985, this series only includes data for 23 counties. Moreover, sales to non-farmers are excluded.

- This series consists of 34 annotated county maps showing boundaries of fire districts and fire protection districts, as well as related correspondence. These maps were used by the commission to assist in the development and revision of laws relating to volunteer firemen and to fire prevention and protection in municipalities and the state. Records also include lists by county indicating fire districts for each town and their establishment date, as well as correspondence with county fire coordinators, requesting action on the boundary maps and providing instructions.
