As part of its duty to promote and ensure the efficient use of transportation resources, the War Transportation Committee (WTC) strictly limited school bus purchases and reviewed school bus usage to ensure that buses were employed according to regulations. This series contains correspondence between the WTC and local schools in which exemptions to school bus regulations were requested. The WTC's response and an explanation for its decision are usually found with each request.
