- This series consists of mostly glass plate negatives of topographic maps used in forest fire detection in the northern, central, and southern portions of the state. Observation rings, with observation stations or fire towers located at the center, are superimposed on the maps. Adjacent fire towers would use these maps to report smoke and ranger stations could then triangulate the location.

- This is an incomplete series of case files documenting legal action brought by the Department of Environmental Conservation against water polluters, usually municipalities or businesses (accused parties' names fall between F and L). The files, which document the entire enforcement process, contain notices of hearings, findings, correspondence, transcripts of hearings, memoranda, rough notes from meetings, maps, case reports, petitions, complaints, registered mail receipts, and a small number of photographs. The whereabouts of the remaining case files is unknown.

- The Conservation Commission was charged with creating fire districts and appointing forest rangers to oversee each district. This map of the Adirondack Forest and Adjoining Territory indicates the location and extent of fires caused by locomotives. Locomotives' coal burning engines were blamed in 1913 for causing sixty fires in the Adirondacks that destroyed over two hundred acres.

The series includes 107 Mylar overlays entitled "Urban Wildlife Habitat Inventory Overlay Maps," and 24 "Urban Area Enlargement" print maps (paper). Habitat areas are demarcated on the Mylar overlays by alphanumeric codes; no legend appears to explain these codes. The print maps cover the counties of Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Greene, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Saratoga, and Westchester. These maps are apparently the base maps with which some of the overlays may be used.

- Verplanck Colvin and his field assistants created this series using the field notes they compiled during their survey of the Adirondack wilderness of New York. The majority of the maps are topographical or cadastral maps and typically show elements of the natural and built environment (such as lakes, rivers, ponds, mountains, roads, and railroads) as well as names of property owners, lot numbers, and pertinent landmarks used in land surveying.
