Most correspondence is from bankers to the Comptroller's Office about the issuance of the bonds. Also included are bonds issued by law.

- Chapter 270 of the Laws of 1846 authorized a suitable armory or place of deposit for the safekeeping of arms and camp equipment within the bounds of each military regiment. This series consists of four sheets of ink drawings, with few pencil annotations, and an architect watercolor design of floor plans and sections for an unnamed New York State Arsenal, presumably in New York City.

Most of these documents deal with Company B of Regiment 2 of the Militia Volunteers. Contained within the series is one pre-war letter (1856) written from Joseph B. Hazen, who later served as a captain with Company B, to his father.

The bulk of the series post-dates the Civil War and concerns Gibson's command of the 12th Brigade of the Third Division. The series also contains a small amount of material concerning Gibson's command of the 30th New York State National Guard between 1862 and 1865.

- This series contains petitions and supporting materials from defense installations to the War Council (and its predecessor, the Council of Defense) requesting that certain streets adjacent to the defense facilities be closed to public access, or that signs be posted restricting access to areas surrounding facilities. Factories involved in supplying war materials requested the limits in order to prevent monitoring of shipments and deliveries, while other facilities such as water and power plants sought to protect themselves from sabotage.
