This series consists of descriptive lists, correspondence, extracts of courts martial, discharges, furloughs, special orders, general orders, receipts, invoices, quarterly returns of ordnance stores, and muster out rolls. Most of these documents deal with Company B of Regiment 2 of the Militia Volunteers. Contained within the series is one pre-war letter (1856) written from Joseph B. Hazen, who later served as a captain with Company B, to his father.

This series consists of printed copies of general and special orders issued by the Adjutant General's Office between 1861 and 1862. The series also contains a small quantity of certificates of enrollment issued to state militia officers in 1864. Finally, this series contains a small quantity of correspondence of Adjutant General William Fuller dating between 1823 and 1824.

Volume one records all incoming correspondence received by Governor Edwin D. Morgan between June 4, 1862 and August 25, 1862. Volume two records correspondence received by the governor's office from March 28, 1865 through October 17, 1870. The majority of the correspondence pertains to recommendations for promotion of officers; requests for transfers, passes, commissions, etc.; resignations; discharges; and other routing administrative matters.
