- The Court for the Trial of Issues was held by a justice of the Supreme Court for trials of issues which were not heard on circuit. The minutes of a trial include the title of the cause, the plaintiff's motion for the return of jury process with a panel of jurors annexed, a list of the jurors selected, a list of witnesses called for the plaintiff and defendant, and the jury's verdict and award of damages.

- This series consists of a typescript calendar of cases presented to the Court of Assizes, compiled sometime before 1911 by A. J. F. Van Laer, archivist of the New York State Library. Entries generally contain the date, parties to the case, nature of the case, allegations, court proceedings, disposition of the case, and page number on which the case appears in the minutes of the Court of Assizes (series A0271).

- The rough minute books contain minutes of civil trials and other proceedings in regular terms of the Circuit Court and in additional "sittings" in the city and county of New York. Trial minutes include the names of plaintiff and defendant, attorneys, jurors, and witnesses, and may list documents introduced as evidence. The minutes state the amount of money judgment awarded by jury verdict after trial, or by jury inquisition if the defendant defaulted. The minute books also contain occasional entries of motions and orders, and fines against non-appearing jurors.

- This series consists of writs of appeal, in Dutch, from judgments made by the courts of New Amsterdam, Oostdurp (Westchester), Heemsteede, New Amstel, Wiltwyck (in the Esopus), Flushing (on Long Island), and Fort Orange. Writs of appeal were granted by the Council of the Colony of New York in response to petitions, usually submitted by one party in a civil action. The records in this series also include summonses and writs of mandamus.

- This series contains a vast array of legal documents in the Dutch language filed with the provincial secretary of New Netherland in conjunction with civil and criminal proceedings. Among other duties, the provincial secretary was responsible for recording and authenticating official documents for potential presentation in court. Included are records relating to the administration of real property, commerce, personal and family matters, and other civil and criminal affairs.

- These files relate to cases where the convicts might benefit from a reenactment of their crime including David Berkowitz, ("Son of Sam"); Mark David Chapman (John Lennon's murderer); John Wojtowicz; Henry Hill; Jean Harris; Jack Henry Abbott; and Sydney Biddle Barrows ("Mayflower Madam"). - This series consists of minutes, in Dutch, documenting civil and criminal cases, and executive and legislative matters over which the Council of the Colony of New York had jurisdiction. The minutes constitute a record of such actions as appointments, proclamations, ordinances, charters, and opinions. Included in the records is the Flushing Remonstrance, which was written in 1657 by citizens of Flushing, Queens to protest a decree prohibiting Quakers from worshiping in New Netherland.

- These records document the settlement of civil and criminal cases by the governor and council sitting as the Court of Assizes. The court tried appeals of lower court decisions and served as an equity court in cases to which no specific legal provisions applied. Cases concerned: land title and/or inheritance disputes; unpaid debts; illegal liquor sales; and attempted murder. Records include warrants; lists of petitions and appeals; and summaries of trial proceedings. Records have burn damage.
