- Applications received by the Secretary of State for registration of trade union labels, marks, names, brands or devices that graphically designate the products of the labor of associations or unions. Each application is accompanied by a copy of the label and, in many cases by a detailed written description of that label. Unions were allowed to register their labels, marks, names, brands or devices with the Office of the Secretary of State to provide for protection against duplication.

- This series consists of canal ice permits, which allowed people to extract ice from canals during the seasonal navigational suspension period. Mostly permits are from the Capital District, particularly Watervliet, Green Island and Cohoes. Many were individual men, though a few women and several industries applied for and received ice permits as well. Information includes the name and city of the individual submitting the application and the conditions under which the permit was granted.

Also included are changes in the date of a court session, a presiding judge, or the extension of a court term or appointment of an extraordinary term. After 1905, the governor's certificates of designation of judges were filed with the assignments of judges.

- This series consists of thirteen construction permit files documenting requests by businesses and private individuals to build structures on state land adjacent to canals. Anticipated structures include freight elevators, boat houses, coal sheds, warehouses and storage facilities, and mills deploying water power. Files typically include original application and supporting maps or plans, inspectors reports and recommendations, and resolutions of the Canal Board favoring or opposing the granting of requested permit.

Summary
- The governor issued these warrants directing the attorney general to prepare letters patent. These patents transferred title to land from the colonial government to private owners whose application to purchase land had been approved following a survey. Each warrant contains governor's name; attorney general's name; size and boundaries of the land to be patented; and date of the warrant. These records sustained moderate to severe burn damage in the 1911 State Capitol fire.
