This series contains the correspondence and memoranda of the State Archeologist. The files of the following individuals are included: Arthur C. Parker, 1906-1924 (assistant in archeology, 1904-1906); Noah Clarke, 1925-1949 (State Archeologist after 1933); William A. Ritchie, 1949-1971; and Robert E. Funk, 1972-1979. Most of the correspondence is with other archeologists or ethnologists, artifact dealers or collectors, members of New York Indian tribes, amateur archeologists, and other private citizens.

This series consists of photographs taken by New York State Museum curator Mark Schaming of the Fresh Kills facility, which was created to process World Trade Center site debris and identifying artifacts after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The images depict the facility; the multi-stage debris sorting process; airplane parts, structural elements, vehicles, personal effects, and other artifacts considered as possible additions to the State Museum's collections; and law enforcement personnel, New York City Department of Sanitation employees, and other people who worked at the Fresh Kills site.
