This is an incomplete series of case files documenting legal action brought by the Department of Environmental Conservation against water polluters, usually municipalities or businesses (accused parties' names fall between F and L). The files, which document the entire enforcement process, contain notices of hearings, findings, correspondence, transcripts of hearings, memoranda, rough notes from meetings, maps, case reports, petitions, complaints, registered mail receipts, and a small number of photographs. The whereabouts of the remaining case files is unknown.

This series contains records pertaining to litigation in state or federal court against or on behalf of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) including but not limited to Article 78 proceedings, federal Resource Conservation & Recovery Act (RCRA) cases, and violators of the Environmental Conservation Law. Records include summonses, pleadings, affidavits, notices, briefs, memoranda of laws, findings of fact, opinions, decisions, correspondence, and court documents.

This series consists of records relating to the siting of power plants and power transmission lines in New York State. Records documenting sitings include applications, hearing transcripts, briefs, decisions, settlements, testimony, facility master plans and maps. Sitings include coal, hydro-electric, and nuclear power plants and power transmission lines. Of note are sitings for the Jamesport Nuclear Power Station, Shoreham Nuclear Power Station, Empire Pipeline, and Indian Point.
