Volume one also include "size" on a scale from one to six county of residence and if inmate's parents were living or dead. Volumes two and three include: religion; whether a new commitment or a returnee; offense; original commitment date and dates of previous commitments.

- This series consists of reports of weekly inspection visits to the reformatory. The Visiting Committee functioned as a liaison between the Acting Committee of the Society for the Reformation of Juvenile Delinquents and the institution's officers. Topics include illnesses and deaths of incarcerated individuals; presence of staff; facility conditions, especially cleanliness; and discipline or disorder in workshops.

- This series consists of reports of standing and special committees appointed by the New York House of Refuge Board of Managers. Series includes reports for indenturing, insurance, theater, school, classification, special, and building committees. The volumes contain reports of three special committees established to influence pending legislation: 1868 - to support an augmented appropriation to replace burned workshops; 1882 - to oppose diversifying theater license revenues to an actors' fund; and 1883 - to oppose prohibition of contract labor and visitation rights for Catholic priests.

- This committee met periodically with the Superintendent to review matters concerning inmate apprenticeships. Minutes document committee actions on the: review of applications from prospective master ( include applicant's name and relationship to the inmate, inmate's name, case number and committee's decision); review of the master's conduct reports for apprenticed inmates; requests by masters to absolve indentures; attempts to recover runaway inmates; rules governing apprenticeships; and review of parole requests.

After about 1900, the entries for admissions and discharges do not refer to individual inmates.

- These volumes list information about persons to whom reformatory inmates were bound out. Information includes master's name and address; inmate's number; and date of indenture agreement. In addition the first volume (1825-1845) lists the master's occupation, the second volume (1860-1873) lists the inmate's name, and the third volume (1869-1903) lists the inmate's name and a reference to the master's prior experience with indentured inmates.

- These volumes contain contractual agreements between the reformatory managers, inmates, and employers for indentured labor or apprenticeships. Contracts specified the employer must teach a trade, literacy and arithmetic; provide food, clothing, shelter, and, end of the apprenticeship terms. Inmates could not be hired out and the agreement could be not canceled without reformatory's consent. Contracts include agreement date; master's name, address, and occupation; inmate's name, age, case number; the type of trade to be taught; and apprenticeship duration.
