Records include director's correspondence; material relating to Middletown State Hospital's centennial; a wide assortment of photographs of various hospital groups, facilities, and activities; newspaper clippings; pamphlets; articles; and scrapbooks.

Titles include "Empathy," the quarterly newsletter of staff and volunteers (1965, 1968); "We Speak," patient newsletter (1958-1967); The "Hilltop," patient newsletter (1935-1953); "The Hilltop Herald," and "MPC Herald," staff newsletter (ca. 1978-1996); and other short-lived or untitled publications (1961-2002).
