- These registers report summary information on incarcerated individuals committed to state correctional institutions and selected county penitentiaries each month. Information is handwritten in columns on preprinted pages which were later bound into volumes for each year. Monthly reports from each institution provide the following information: name of incarcerated individual; county where convicted; crime; court; judge; date of sentence; date received at prison; term; and remarks (such as previous prison terms).

- This series consists of a journal of fines imposed on individuals incarcerated at Auburn Prison and the State Prison for Women. Information includes names; number of days fined and amount of fine. - This series consists of records of women paroled from the Women's Prison at Auburn. Files include criminal and personal history information similar to that found in standard state prison inmate case files from this era. The major difference is that these files were specifically compiled to document each inmate's interaction with the Parole Board, from initial application for parole, through evaluation by the board, to follow-up supervision after the granting of parole.

State Archives staff will review records containing probation, parole, medical, and juvenile criminal history data and disclose information pursuant to the Freedom of Information Law and Personal Privacy Protection Law. The identity of victims of sex crimes is not disclosable. Unless a specific law forbids disclosure indefinitely, all records must be disclosed after 75 years.

- This series consists of the monthly reports sent to the governor from each prison indicating incarcerated individuals eligible for discharge by commutation. The reports from all prisons for each year were bound into volumes. Each monthly report from each prison provides the following information: name; county; crime; court; judge; date of sentence; date received at prison; term; commutation earned; date eligible for discharge; amount of time lost for rule violations; and occasional remarks recommending increase or decrease in commutation.
