This series is a partial history of tuberculosis hospitals in New York State. It contains correspondence, memoranda, annual reports, bulletins, legal documents, press releases, and newspaper clippings from 1905 through 1975. The series reflects the Department of Health's function of protecting public health through its supervision and funding of State hospitals in general, and the Bureau of Tuberculosis Control's superintendence of tuberculosis hospitals in particular.

This series from the Comptroller's office consists of bills, correspondence, receipts, contract statements of certificates, vouchers and certificates stating that construction work was performed by individuals on the hospitals. The records in this series are concerned mainly with the E.H. Denniston Company and address monies paid for labor and supplies to complete contracts annulled by the State Architect.

This series consists of reports and minutes of meetings submitted to the governor by boards of managers of state institutions documenting their visitation and inspection of these institutions as required by law. The reports provide information on the condition of the facilities, financial and administrative matters, and population of the institution. The minutes detail the organization of the board and election of officers, and provide similar information on the institution and its population as do the reports.
