The markers documented in this series were created by a special initiative to commemorate the route that General Henry Knox used to conduct an artillery train and supplies from Fort Ticonderoga to Boston in the winter of 1775-1776. Record types include applications, articles, correspondence, and other records concerning the Knox Trail markers.

This operation was undertaken as part of the State Historian's role to help preserve the State's heritage.
