Summary
This series contains the records generated by an early attempt to plan for the establishment of central school districts. School district superintendent noted on these quadrangle maps: boundaries of existing central school districts, sites of school-building and number of teachers, suggested boundaries for central school districts, suggested annexations of districts, schools to be kept open after centralization for grades K-6, and hard surfaced roads suitable for year round use. Many files include narratives of conditions affecting centralization.

County Vocational Education and Extension Boards correspondence and program files

Summary
Legislation establishing county vocational education and extension boards (Laws of 1926, Chapter 505) required that the Commissioner of Education approve courses offered by the boards. These files contain correspondence, memorandums, reports, charts, application forms, and news clippings about programs and services offered by such boards. For each county there are separate files for correspondence and for plans and reports. The latter files contain applications for approval of proposed services giving information about the service, schools served, number of students served, and provider's staff.

The studies were carried out in the following areas: Mamaroneck - Rye Neck; New Rochelle; Greater Plattsburg Area; and Sewanhaka High School Area (Floral Park). In addition, there is a file of news clippings and pamphlets related to the controversy of inclusion of Menands School District Number 15 in the North Colonie Central School District.
